At Peter Pan, we support every child as they grow through meaningful experiences, independence and meaningful relationships.
We draw inspiration from the principles of active learning approaches, and we place great emphasis on the ideas of Maria Montessori, who recognises the child as an active participant in their own learning. In a well-designed and accessible environment, the children explore, experiment and build knowledge through direct experience, including in the natural world.
Every child is unique and enriches the group with their own story and sensibility. We support them as they discover the world, giving them the freedom to explore, ask questions and experiment with books in different languages, Montessori materials, creative workshops and spaces for movement.
Our programme supports every child in achieving the objectives set out in the National Guidelines, with English as the language of everyday life.
How we work
Careful observation of children guides educational planning. We observe their behaviour, interests, the way they play and interact with others. We then reflect on these observations and plan activities based on them.

Full immersion in English
English is the language of everyday life, right from day one. Children acquire it naturally and spontaneously: through relationships, play, routines and meaningful activities, without translation and without being forced.
Qualified native-speaking teachers provide authentic language models and a fully immersive environment. Learning takes place through reading aloud, songs, expressive activities and shared experiences.

Outdoor Education: learning in nature
Outdoor experiences are an integral part of school life. The children spend time outdoors every day: in the play areas and the Secret Garden, a natural setting that becomes a real open-air classroom.
Through exploration, observation and direct contact with nature, they develop curiosity, independence and a sense of well-being. The Secret Garden is also a place for meeting and sharing that involves children and families throughout the year.

Atelier
The art studio is a space dedicated to creativity, exploration and self-expression. Through painting, graphic art, clay and natural materials, the children develop their imagination, fine motor skills and the ability to express their thoughts.
We draw inspiration from Loris Malaguzzi’s Theory of the Hundred Languages: art as a tool for exploring and understanding the world. Montessori materials complement the experience, fostering independence, concentration and learning through hands-on exploration and discovery.
Buddy Groups
Each child is part of a small group made up of children of different ages. The youngest children find role models to look up to, whilst the older ones learn about responsibility and caring for others.
Through shared activities, workshops and daily opportunities to come together, this system fosters a sense of belonging, independence and personal growth within a welcoming and inclusive educational community.
In the afternoon, the Buddy Groups get together for workshops on art, discovery, photography, movement, Montessori and role play.
The teaching team
Teachers guide the children through their daily lives with care and educational intent. Their proficiency in English enriches the experience by providing authentic and natural exposure to the language.
The team’s work is coordinated by an educational coordinator, supported by an educational specialist whose role involves supervision, staff training, observation and liaising with families.
The team is made up of qualified professionals who receive regular updates through the Becoming Academy, including training in safety and paediatric first aid.

The Preschool is organised into age-mixed groups: 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds have their own dedicated spaces and groups.
This approach enables us to offer tailored experiences that are in line with the needs and developmental stages of each group.

Settling in
The settling-in process is gradual and takes into account each child’s own pace and the needs of their families. Parents take part in the first few sessions in the nursery group to help ensure a smooth transition and build trust.
Attendance arrangements are flexibly adjusted, creating a shared approach between school and family, with the aim of ensuring safety and emotional wellbeing.
The day
Each day is designed to give children the freedom to take the initiative in a structured environment rich in opportunities. The age-based groups encourage children to manage spaces and materials independently.
Even everyday moments such as lunch, personal hygiene and rest become educational opportunities for independence and cooperation.
The morning cicle
The day begins with a welcome and the morning circle: a group activity involving songs, games and movement. It is a time when every child feels part of the group and helps to shape the day.
Throughout the day
Activities include exploration, workshops and research projects in areas such as art, literacy, numeracy, Jolly Phonics, gardening and discovery.
Teachers observe and facilitate learning processes, fostering curiosity, emotions and independence in an environment rich in materials and stimuli.

Lunch: quality and seasonal produce
Lunch is an important educational opportunity, with meals provided by CIR and a focus on food quality and safety. The children learn about social behaviour, respecting food, seasonal produce and reducing waste.
Rest
After lunch, the children can rest or take part in relaxing activities, taking into account their different individual needs and each child’s own pace.
