Full Immersion English and Bilingualism
Two languages, one journey
At Peter Pan Preschool and The English Primary School, English is part of daily life. From ages 3 to 10, we guide every child along a continuous journey that changes form but never direction.
At the Preschool, English is the language of everyday life, right from day one. At the Primary School, that same language becomes a tool for learning, communication and thinking, within a Cambridge International-accredited bilingual curriculum.
Our aim is to help children grow up able to use both languages naturally and confidently as tools for communicating, thinking and learning.
Why an integrated approach is valuable

Growing up immersed in a language from the age of 3 trains the mind deeply. It is not just about communication: it changes the way children think, concentrate and solve problems.
This daily practice builds solid skills, which form the foundation for genuine, integrated bilingualism in Primary.
Becoming Education collaborates with Bilingualism Matters, an international research centre on bilingualism, to ensure an approach based on scientific evidence.
The benefits of bilingualism
- Superior logical skills The bilingual brain is better trained to solve and manage problems quickly
- Greater attention and concentration Switching between languages requires focus
- Enhanced creativity Greater problem-solving and analytical skills
- Enhanced working memory Bilingual children are more versatile in both mental arithmetic and memorising instructions
- Cultural openness and lifelong benefits Recognising the diversity of viewpoints, an open-minded attitude towards world cultures, and greater brain flexibility even in adulthood
The role of teachers

Our native-speaking teachers come from a variety of countries and bring with them international teaching experience, ensuring authentic exposure to the language, natural pronunciation and a rich variety of linguistic models.
They work side by side with the Italian educational team as part of a shared programme that supports every child from Preschool through to Primary, without interruption.
PRESCHOOL

At Preschool: full immersion in English
At Peter Pan Nursery School, English is the language of everyday life. The children acquire it naturally and spontaneously: through relationships, play, routines and meaningful activities, without translations or pressure. The language environment is designed to ensure consistency in exposure, quality interactions with adults and a wealth of communicative stimuli.
Native-speaking teachers provide a constant point of reference: through natural, accurate and consistent use of the language, they offer the children authentic linguistic models via reading aloud, songs and expressive activities.
- Full immersion in English, right from day one
- Authentic experiences, without pressure to produce speech
- Respect for each child’s own pace and learning style
- Books and materials in English
PRIMARY SCHOOL

In Primary: bilingualism becomes part of the curriculum
The English Primary School is the only Cambridge International-accredited bilingual primary school in Modena.
Here, bilingualism takes on a structured form. English becomes an everyday skill: children learn to read, write and communicate with increasing confidence, alongside Italian.
Qualified native-speaking teachers guide pupils using an authentic and immersive approach. Language is a living tool: it is used to explore science, art, literature and subject-specific content, not just for studying grammar.
Respect for the structures of both languages ensures a competent and informed use of each.
- Italian-English bilingual curriculum, recognised by Cambridge International
- Subjects are also taught in English. Pupils do not simply repeat the same topics covered in the Italian curriculum, but explore them in greater depth, make connections between them and broaden their understanding through the second language.
- A progressive path towards communicative autonomy
Cambridge Certifications

We prepare students to sit the Cambridge Young Learners exams: a progressive programme that develops communication skills and offers international recognition.
- Starters – Year 2
- Movers – Year 3
- Flyers – Year 4
- KET – Year 5, the first step in the Cambridge English Qualifications
Preparation is integrated into the curriculum: age-appropriate, progressive programmes; communicative materials incorporated into lessons; and the development of confidence, independence and language proficiency.
