Educational model

The Becoming Education model

At Becoming Education, we believe that every child is born with innate abilities: a unique individual, capable of making sense of the world and engaging with it from the very first days of life.

We believe that every child thrives best when they have meaningful experiences, genuine relationships and an environment that nurtures their natural curiosity.

Our role is not simply to impart knowledge. It is to provide a rich environment, made up of experiences, relationships and discoveries, where every child can express and develop their potential – emotional, social and cognitive.

Our educational model is based on solid pedagogical principles, backed up by neuroscience: we learn best through first-hand experience, by feeling positive emotions, and by sharing the journey with our classmates.

That is why we have created an environment where emotions and learning go hand in hand.

Our programme is bilingual in Italian and English right from nursery. We regard bilingualism as essential for the development of a flexible and open mind, a cornerstone that supports our children every day.

Families are our allies. We believe that schools and parents should work together, sharing experiences and educational goals.

The foundations

The vision and principles that guide every decision we make

At the heart of our approach

We turn children’s natural curiosity into a drive to learn.

Meaningful experiences, meaningful relationships and an environment that supports each child’s uniqueness: this is how we truly grow.

Reggio Approach

The Reggio Approach is based on a simple yet profound belief: every child is capable. Children are curious participants, able to explore and construct meaning through the ‘hundred languages’: drawing, movement, music, language and play.

Multiple Intelligences

Every child has their own talents, and there is no single type of intelligence. Our aim is to recognise and celebrate each child’s uniqueness, treating them with respect and using their strengths as a springboard to nurture all their other abilities.

How we learn every day

Active approaches that put children at the centre

Active and relationship-based teaching

We learn better when we learn together. This is the idea behind our active learning approach: knowledge is built through experience, collaboration with peers and dialogue with adults. Everyday experience becomes a network of shared discoveries.

Educators, designers and researchers

A close-knit team, united by a shared vision. They observe, listen, and create rich learning environments designed to stimulate curiosity and independent learning. Through the Becoming Academy, they keep up to date with innovative teaching methods, emotional intelligence and inclusion.

Visible learning

Through photos, videos and diaries, we document the children’s discoveries and learning processes on a daily basis. It is a tool that helps us with our planning and allows you to gain an insight into the world your child experiences every day at school.

Growing as people

Not just knowledge: life skills

Potential orientation

Let’s not wait until secondary school to ask ourselves, ‘What will they do when they grow up?’.

From early childhood, we work to help every child recognise their strengths, cope with difficulties and build self-confidence.

Nutrition education

We build a healthy relationship with food from early childhood. School lunches are about relationships, enjoyment, culture and learning about healthy eating.

Emotional and social skills

Empathy and active listening are cultivated every day.

Every day, we help the children to recognise what they are feeling, to put names to their emotions, and to resolve moments of conflict through conversation. We help them to understand others, to ask questions, to be patient, and to work together.

Where you can learn

Spaces designed to encourage independence and discovery

Environments that educate

Our spaces are vibrant environments, designed to encourage children to explore, create and discover; they foster a sense of belonging and help them make sense of the world.

Every space speaks to the children and becomes part of their learning.

Outdoor Education

The outdoors is an integral part of learning. We go out regularly to explore, observe and experiment.

Children learn to look after the environment when they feel they are part of it.

L’Atelier, a place of 100 languages

The Atelier is a space where ideas take shape and knowledge expands through creative tools and forms of expression.

We provide children with materials that foster creativity and imagination and help them to explore and develop new meanings. It is a space in constant evolution, where they can express themselves through their own language.

The educational community

Schools, families and the local community working together for the children

Schools and families: allies

For us, the family is a key ally. Our nursery staff observe the children alongside their parents, recognising their expertise, supporting them in their parenting and building a genuine partnership.

Inclusion and equal opportunities

Every child has the right to learn in a way that suits their individual needs.

Teachers trained in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)/Personal Development Plans (PDPs), collaboration with specialists, and a focus on each child’s uniqueness and individual pace.

Frequently asked questions

Our model is founded on the belief that every child is born competent: a unique individual capable of constructing meaning and relating to the world from the very first days of life. We draw inspiration from the Reggio Emilia Approach, which values the “hundred languages” of expression, integrating learning with direct experience and positive emotions.
It means that the child is a curious explorer who actively constructs their own knowledge. At Locomotiva di Momo, every child is free to ask questions and experiment, supported by an environment that allows them to realize their potential within a welcoming community.
We follow the theory of Multiple Intelligences: we recognize that every child has different talents and that there is no single type of intelligence. We use each child’s strengths as a springboard to nurture all their other abilities, respecting individual rhythms and personal identity.
It is an approach where knowledge is built together through experience, peer collaboration, and dialogue with adults. Everyday experience becomes a network of shared discoveries where emotions and learning always go hand in hand.
We place the care of relationships at the heart of all learning. We support children in recognizing what they feel and giving a name to their emotions, helping them manage conflicts through dialogue and develop empathy and collaboration.
Our educators, experts in psychomotor development and trained in the Brazelton approach, observe the children’s growth stages to support their inquiries and social dynamics. As designers and researchers, they prepare environments rich in stimuli to encourage independent exploration, acting as living examples of a curious and scientific approach to the world. In our bilingual setting, they also serve as living language role models.

teaching team

We use visible learning: through photos, videos, and diaries, we narrate the daily processes of discovery and learning. This tool helps the team refine educational planning and allows families to gain deep insight into the world the child experiences every day at school.
Because environments are not just backdrops but living contexts designed to invite exploration, discovery, and reflection. Every space—from the classrooms to the atelier—speaks to the children, fostering a sense of belonging and helping them construct meaning through carefully selected materials.
The family is a key ally in an educating community. We build an authentic partnership based on dialogue and trust, supporting parenting through the shared observation of the child’s progress.
